General Manager – Mount Peter (Warwick, NY)

Position Overview
The General Manager is responsible for the day‑to‑day leadership of Mount Peter Ski Area, ensuring smooth winter operations, strong guest service, and effective coordination across all departments. This role is hands‑on, operational, and focused on keeping the mountain running safely, efficiently, and in line with Mount Peter’s long‑standing community values.
The GM works closely with ownership, department managers, and seasonal staff to maintain Mount Peter’s reputation as a welcoming, family‑friendly ski area. The role also supports the development of summer activities to help grow year‑round revenue.
Essential Responsibilities
- Daily Operations Oversight — Ensure all departments, including lifts, snowmaking, grooming, guest services, rentals, food & beverage, retail, ski school, marketing and patrol operate smoothly.
- Team Leadership — Support and guide department managers; help recruit, train, and motivate seasonal and year‑round staff.
- Guest Experience — Maintain Mount Peter’s friendly, community‑focused service standards.
- Basic Financial Oversight — Assist with budgeting, monitor expenses, and help ensure financial targets are met.
- Safety & Compliance — Maintain compliance with NYS lift regulations, safety standards, and inspections, including OSHA, DOL, and New York Department of Health.
- Facilities & Improvements — Coordinate routine maintenance and support ownership with capital upgrades.
- Community & Marketing Support — Collaborate with local partners and help promote Mount Peter’s programs.
- Summer Operations Support — Assist in planning and launching manageable summer offerings such as small events or community activities.
Qualifications
- 5–10 years of leadership experience in a ski area, mountain operations, or similar recreation/hospitality environment.
- Experience managing teams in a fast‑paced, guest‑facing setting.
- Working knowledge of ski area operations (snowmaking, lifts, grooming, ski school, guest services).
- Strong communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working onsite, including weekends and holidays during winter season.
- Must be a skier/snowboarder.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $150,000+, depending on experience
