Conveniently Located Center for Skiing, Riding and Snow Tubing Will Welcome Guests for its 87th Season
WARWICK, N.Y. (Dec. 7, 2022) – Mount Peter, New York’s family mountain, has completed an ambitious expansion and redesign of its Snow Basin Learning Center in time for the coming ski season. New York’s family mountain will open its 87th season with an additional carpet lift to service its skiers and riders, greatly advancing the guest experience.
“More time on the snow, less time standing in line,” said Karl Kullberg, Mountain Manager at Mount Peter. “The biggest benefit of the work we’ve done will be managing the foot traffic between our three carpets a lot more efficiently.”
The expansion and redesign of those carpet lifts – conveyor belts that carry skiers to the top of the beginner slope – increases the learning terrain by about 40%, a huge benefit for participants in Mount Peter’s acclaimed Ski School. “On a busy weekend day, we might have 80% to 90% of our customers on learning terrain,” said Ski School Director Rob Gallo. “This is what we do. We teach people how to ski. The new Learning Center opens more room at the bottom of the mountain for the ski school, but still has the same easy access.”
The work is the latest example of Mount Peter’s steadfast commitment to constantly improve the guest experience. Last year, a new 5,000-square-foot rental shop opened, more than double the previous space. Each off season presents another opportunity to enhance the mountain’s operations, and welcome guests back to enjoy all that the mountain has to offer.
Winter outdoor enthusiasts of all skill levels are welcome at Mount Peter. Its famous FREE beginner lessons are offered on weekends and holidays to introduce newcomers to the sport. Mount Peter also offers private and family lessons, including mid-week learn-to-ski and snowboarding packages.
Just an hour drive from the George Washington Bridge, Mount Peter is at 51 Old Mount Peter Road in Warwick, N.Y. For more information, visit mtpeter.com.
